Visa
Are you a French citizen?
For stays of up to 60 days in Thailand, you do not need a visa. Once there, you may extend this exemption once only for an additional 30 days, at a cost of approximately €52, either at a local immigration office or online via VFS Global.
Not a French citizen?
Visa requirements depend on your nationality. A visa can usually be applied for online, unless you are required to apply in person at the Royal Thai Embassy in Paris.
SIM/eSIM cards
In Thailand, you can find several prepaid SIM card options that can be topped up in-store or online, with no risk of excess charges. The main mobile operators are AIS, TrueMove H, and DTAC. You can purchase an eSIM valid for 8, 15, 30, or 60 days, with prices ranging from approximately €11 to €30. Most plans offer unlimited 5G access. Mobile coverage is generally very reliable and extends across the entire country.
Transports
Uber does not operate in Thailand. However, Grab offers similar services with private drivers.
As for public transport, only Bangkok has a metro system, which is well known for its comfort and modernity. Several networks are available, both elevated and underground, providing a wide choice of lines. It's ideal for avoiding surface traffic congestion.
If you plan to rent and drive a car, be sure to obtain an international driving permit.
A national railway network connects the country’s major cities. Tickets can be purchased on site, via the official dticket website, or through third‑party platforms such as Klook.
