In the night markets

From late afternoon until late at night, night markets are the perfect place to sample local cuisine at affordable prices while enjoying a lively and vibrant atmosphere. Numerous stalls offer starters, main dishes, desserts, and drinks. Simply choose your food and enjoy it in designated seating areas. There are very often shows and live concerts, making for a truly festive evening.

Examples of famous night markets: Chiang Mai Night Bazaar, Phuket Weekend Market, Rot Fai Market (Bangkok), and Walking Street Market (Pattaya).

To the floating markets

In Thailand, it is very common to do your shopping at floating markets, where you can find fresh produce and street food to enjoy on the spot. You can also find non-food items such as souvenirs. Vendors either operate from wooden platforms or directly from their boats. You can move from platform to platform by renting a boat with a rower, or simply stay along the edge and wait for the boats to come to you.

Famous floating markets: Damnoen Saduak (Bangkok), Amphawa (80km de Bangkok), Taling Chan (12km de bangkok)

In unusual places

Thailand is full of restaurants and cafés that can easily be considered unusual, both in terms of atmosphere and setting.

Enjoy dining:

- in a treehouse cabin (Bird’s Nest Treehouse, Koh Kood),

- on a cliffside (The Cliff Restaurant, Phuket),

- inside a cave (The Grotto, Krabi),

- or in a sky tower (Baiyoke Sky Restaurant, Bangkok).
